Our Mission:

It is the mission of CAMP AMICUS, to provide the highest caliber of education and fun for youth in our community..At CAMP AMICUS, our camp counselors will inspire young minds to exercise their creativity while embracing learning, as an invaluable tool for life. CAMP AMICUS offers an ‘experiencing’ summer education program that inspires learning, cultivates self-confidence and self-efficacy, and sparks the "internal drive" in students to succeed while having fun.

CAMP AMICUS is divided into three responsible sections:

·         Junior Campers: Grades K – 5th  – Curious Kids! A fun and educational program designed to embrace your child’s natural curiosity about the world around them while exploring the great outdoors and quenching their thirst for adventure.

·         Senior Campers: Grades 6th  – 9th  – Its Hard Being a Teen! This program is designed to develop greater self-esteem, cooperation and communication with others, teamwork, leadership and a sense of responsibility. Senior Campers will have a fun and exciting summer experience while developing specialized skills that will help them navigate their way through all types of situations.

·         CIT’s (Counselors in Training)   Grades 9th – 12th – A place for young leaders in the making! This program is designed to help teens strengthen and practice their leadership skills, while giving them an opportunity to mentor younger campers. CIT’s will learn the importance of civic responsibility and understand that giving back to their community really does make a difference.

Curriculum/Activities:

Each year a thematic curriculum unit will be selected. This curriculum is divided into two parts; Overall Theme and Weekly Theme. The Overall Theme serves as the theme for the year (duration of camp), whereas the weekly themes, fall under the umbrella of the overall theme, but serve as the core of each session’s activities. (See session outline)

·         2010 Overall Theme:  Cultivating Ambition

This summer each session is designed to teach campers how to recognize

their inner strength and builds the confidence they need to tackle their summer

experience with drive and determination!
